The Sandra Olson Memorial Fund

Welcome to the Sandra Olson Memorial Fund Web Site. We would like to tell you about a wonderful lady named Sandra Olson. She was the world's greatest Mom, a loving wife, went to heaven on January 9, 2009, and is sorrowfully missed by her family.

Sandra (Sandy) Olson was diagnosed with metastatic breast and colorectal cancer in July 2007. Because she had two primary cancer sites and was unable to participate in any clinical trials, she was put at a big disadvantage from the very first day. After an 18 month heroic fight and enduring more pain than most people will ever have to face, she passed away from complications due to grueling, ongoing treatments. Strong to the very end and determined not to give up, she would tell the doctors that she wanted to do whatever it took to live even if it only gave her another hour with her family. Repeatedly told by the doctors that she was not going to be able to leave the hospital, she would beat the odds and live to fight the next battle. So the night she passed away, we still believed that she was going to be in the hospital for awhile and would go home eventually with us, but that wasn't to happen this time. As she lay dying, she commented, "This is not fair, this is not fair." She was so tired and pronounced dead at 10:40 pm.

The talks we would have when she was here were priceless and now everything is just painfully quiet. One of the worst things we have to face each night is knowing that when we wakeup in the morning, she will still be gone and the heartbreaking loneliness will continue.
